SIQUELIA is a Sicilian company owned by Marzia Lo Vecchio, a dynamic entrepreneur with a bold and determined personality, founded on the passion for her land that has ancient wine-making traditions mixed with a sophisticated and refined creative taste. The company has created a contemporary selection of “DOC Sicilia” wines with a superior quality, produced with refined local varieties cultivated in the Belice Valley, in an area between the provinces of Agrigento, Trapani and Palermo, and vinified the winery located in Gibellina, expressing the territory in its wide fusion between agriculture and art, and telling us the story of Sicilian ancient and modern wines.

OUR WINES

The SIQUELIA wines are produced in the Belice Valley, currently one of the most renowned areas of Sicily for the production of quality wines, also where vines and wine have always been a constant presence. The terrains, mostly hills, have subtle slopes with medium texture soils containing clay, ideal for the growth of the white grape varieties. The soils that are mostly clay with a portion of limestone sediment, are ideal for red variety grapes and located at elevations that range from 300 to 500 m a.s.l., with favorable exposures to the south, south-east and south-west. This area has ideal microclimatic conditions with intense sunlight, sea breezes and mild temperatures, perfect for viticulture and also has a good temperature excursion between day and night, a key factor for the natural ripening process of the grapes and for the concentration of aromatic substances in their skins, which are able to retain a perfect balance, remarkable elegance and unique aromas that tie the wines to their territory of origin.

Nero d'avola

Sicilia Doc

Intense ruby-red color, with an aroma of cherries, prunes and notes of aromatic herbs (rosemary).

Warm flavor, with a well-balanced acidity and bold structure, perfect harmony between rich balance and intensity.

Vinified in stainless steel thermoconditioned tanks and aged, for at least 25%, in French oak barriques from 3 months to 1 year.

Food pairing
Perfectly pairs with red meats, game and aged cheeses.

16-18°C.

Syrah

Sicilia Doc

Intense dark red with fruity aromas of blueberries, berries and currant, with spicy notes
of tobacco, pepper and chocolate.

Structured, bold, warm and tannic, with a broad
expressivity.

Vinified in stainless steel thermoconditioned tanks and aged, for at least 25%, in French oak barriques from 3 months to 1 year.​

Food pairing
Perfectly pairs with red meats, deer and boar, as well as cheeses.

16-18°C.

Merlot

Sicilia Doc

Ruby red color with purple reflections, with captivating aromas of red fruit, prune, cherries, currant and blueberries.

Pleasant and balanced, harmonious, mellow, well-structured and dry.

Vinified in stainless steel thermoconditioned tanks.

Food pairing
Excellent with red meats, roast beef, stews, roasts, aged cheeses.

Serving temperature
16-18°C.

Grillo

Sicilia Doc

Bright straw-yellow color, with marked greenish reflections and with a broad aroma and distinctly floral, recalling the scents of white flowers and Mediterranean citrus, with subtle hints of pear.

Fresh to the palate, dry and harmonious with a bold structure and a balanced sapidity.

Vinified in stainless steel thermoconditioned tanks where it rests for 5 months on its refined lees before being bottled.

Food pairing
Its fragrance and aromaticity make it a perfect paring with fish dishes, vegetables, white meats and spicy cheeses.

8-10°C.

Catarratto

Sicilia Doc

Straw-yellow color with citrus notes of lemon and orange and a floral background aroma that recalls the scent of orange blossom and jasmine.

Medium structure with a dry taste, balanced with excellent sapidity and marked mineral flavors that soften into an elegant almond finish revealing the richness of the variety, providing a pleasant aftertaste to the palate.

Vinified in stainless steel thermoconditioned tanks where it rests for 5 months on its refined lees before being bottled.

Food pairing
Perfect match for light and refined fish dishes.
Elegantly pairs with shellfish starters and enhances
dishes with vegetables and seafood.

Chardonnay

Straw-yellow color with an intense aroma of citrus and tropical fruit and fresh
notes of mint and white flowers.

Medium body, savory and elegant and persistent to the palate.

Pairs well with delicate food, with fish dishes and is
excellent with fresh
